About the Contest

The National Wine Competition is the highest-level official wine competition in the Czech Republic and serves as a clear and indisputable guarantee of the exceptional quality of the award-winning wines. The National Wine Competition’s entirely unique system, thanks to multi-round evaluation, gradually highlights the best wines in the categories of dry and semi-dry white wines, semi-sweet white wines, sweet wines, rosé wines, dry and semi-dry red wines, semi-sweet red wines, and sparkling wines.

The National Wine Competition consists of three stages. The preliminary rounds take place in individual wine-growing subregions, and their purpose is to nominate successful wines for the first, nationwide round of the competition.

The participants in the first round of the National Wine Competition are thus selected from the individual nomination rounds of all four subregions in Moravia and the Bohemia region. These wines are evaluated in late November and December, and 400 wines advance to the second, final round. The second round will take place in mid-January and will determine the winner (Champion) of the entire competition, the winners of the individual categories, and the lineup of the Czech Wine Salon.
